Just got in from the hospital. All CT scans were negative and they took him off the backbrace board. One of the broken arms is actually bad enought to warrant orthopedic surgery tonight. No rods or pins just stabilizing the arm and another surgery to fix it tommorrow. His jaw isnt broken but he did need stitches somewhere on his head and his mouth is pretty cut up from the modular shoei moving in about a half inch towards his jaw. It wasn't a lady but a man that was leaving the bayview who pulled out in front of Stu. I was told the guy in the truck had called the hospital to check on him a few times already. The nurse kept telling us how polite Stu was through all this and he couldnt have pain meds until the CT scan checked out.
Thoughts and prayers Stu.

He was in ICU last night, until surgery time. I beleive he's in observation, at this time.
They're limiting his visitation, if any for now.
He's at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, on Hwy 30 Gonzales.
1125 W Highway 30
Gonzales, LA 70737
(225) 647-5000
You can give them a call, and see what's the scoop on visitation and such.
We did hear, this morning, that all the surgeries went well last night.
They were going to just do what they needed to clean out the wounds, and do any rods and pins today.
Everything went so well, that they went ahead and did everything, last night. Rods pins, plates, etc. So far he's in good condition, considering.
They were able to get ahold of his parents last night.
They should be here around 3-4 pm today.

Thanks for the update, I will call and try to go visit him if they allow him visitors. Why does shit like this happen to people like Stu? Can't tell you how many bikes roll around that area with riders intoxicated and poor ole Stu just out for a ride gets the shaft. Kind of pisses me off.

In light of it all, I believe it makes him aware that though he may not have siblings / family here, that he does indeed have a family with us..
It's not much, but it's one positive way to look at it.
Stu's kept his chin up, throuout this ordeal, so far.

I am not surprised by that, Stu always has the most laid back attitude and I couldn't see him do anything but hold his chin up and deal with whatever. Hope he heals up quick though, doesn't sound like fun when people start talking about pins and screws...

I went and saw him today. I stuck around from about 2:30pm to about 4:30pm. He's in pain, but he's was in good spirits. He still has his sense of humor. He was also moving around alot better than (I'm told) he was yesterday. And as Juice said, they're hoping to send him home Thursday but more likely Friday. But that's assuming he doesn't run into any complications.
I talked to Ben, who went to see him later this evening, and he said Stu was having a rough time.
Hope ya feel better Stu;)
While I was there one of the First Responders (and a friend of Stu's) stopped by to check on him. He brought paper printouts of some pics he took at the scene. I asked Stu if he'd mind if I posted them. Stu said "Go ahead. If it makes one person wear their gear, it's worth it". I have two of the bike, and two of the truck. It's amazing he wasn't hurt worse...

When I was looking at the pics yesterday I told him "Good News, you probably totalled his truck. Due to the amount of damage to the rocker panel".
Stu said "Good!" :D
Oh, and if anyone is just thinking about visiting, or is hesisitant because they don't want to intrude or take away from his time with his parents... GO VISIT HIM!
His parents are wonderful people (you can see where Stu gets it from) who welcomed me while I was there, and had nothing but good things to say about everyone that has stopped by. In fact his mother told me that she used to worry about Stu being here with no Family close by, but now she sees that he has a good Family here.

Actually I hope they don't total his truck. Make the fucker have to go through all the shit of having it rebuilt and then not looking or fitting right, leaks, time with no vehicle, etc.
Totalling will allow him to just get a new one. Having to have it fixed will inconvenience him more. Just my .02.

Just got back to work from visiting Stu. He's sitting in a chair watching TV. In pretty good spirits all things considered. Still in quite a bit of pain. They've got him using O2 (I'm guessing because of the pain meds) but he's looking pretty good.
He said he's not used to being off the web thsi long. If anyone has a leptop connect card and a laptop you could bring to let him surf a bit, I was able to get 2-bars H on my AT&T tilt. (H>3G) so cellular connections shouldn't be a problem unless the hospital forbids it.
He said the truck turned left in front of him for what it's worth.
If he's lucky, he might be able to go home tomorrow, but I'm betting another day or two.
Room 240, visiting hours 'til 8pm.

thanks for all the well wishes.
to give you an idea of how it went down, time how long it takes to say "you've gotta be kidd..." and that will give you an idea of how long i had to react from when he started turning in front of me. this is what burns me the most. if he had turned in earlier and at least gave me a fighting chance to avoid him... and given how light traffic was and how many different areas there are to turn into bayview at...
from what i can best guess my arms acted as a shock barrier at impact. i'd like to think the leather jacket prevented my broken bones from being worse. the helmet did its main job. i can't say i'd rush out to replace it with another modular right now though.
after impact i probably slightly flew into the truck, causing some bruising on my left side that is almost gone.
bridgette is gone. i had plans of her seeing 100K miles. she tok me to places i probably would not have gotten to see and taught me quite a bit along the way.
