Badger and I are trying to put a group together for Gamra/Semra's round six at Five Flags speedway, in Pensacola Florida. We will be leaving Red stick on Friday July 31st, and returning home sometime on Sunday. Anyone with a Mini or motard is welcome to join our convoy. If you have never been to a SEMRA race and wanna see what all the hype is about, this race should make a great first impression.

Can I race if I were to find a bike and have it ready by then?

Yes, Five Flags is a SEMRA sanctioned event, but they will honor all GAMRA memberships. You can obtain a GAMRA race license for about $25.00 through the GAMRA website. Leland is a member here and will prolly chime in and provide you with more info.

We are suppose to be closing on the new property on Friday the 31st. I am trying to get the closing date moved but its not looking to promising. If i can not get my closing date moved it will most likely foul our race weekend. I will keep you guys posted when i know more.

Juice

Phil, Is the yammy safety wired? Semra requires that all bikes be safety wired and equipped with a fluid catch can.

A big thanks Juice I'm making sure EVERYTHING else is set-up and didn't think about that.

I just read their rules tell me if this sounds correct:
-safety wire oil drain plug and filler cap (I take it you secure them to the frame?)
-secure kickstartrer
-safety wire master link - (I need a how-to on this)
-will I have to safety wire my fluid drain-plug on the cylinder, oil filter cover or any other bolts

Catch Cans:
I've been shopping ALL morning and want to make sure I purchase the correct cans, can someone suggest which to go with. Is there a way to combine the coolant with the fuel?

2" PVC capped, under 7 bucks at Lowe's. The problem with the 65 is there is nowhere to mount the darn thing.

Guys, do to situations beyond my control we will not be making Five Flags next weekend after all. We have some last minute priorities to take care of at the new propriety before we can get final inspection and keep the closing on schedule. Badger and I are both bummed, but sometimes you just have to do what you have to do. See you guys next month in North Alabama.

Carl that sounds good. I have to see what's going on with work, I'll let you know tomorrow.

How did that gearing feel?

six fiddy
07-27-2009, 06:47 AM
the bike pulled the gearing very well; thought it was wide open about halfway down the straight ; seemed to do about 100mph; would normally just take it easy on the straight and ride hard on the curvy sections; bike handling was great

Rather than safety wire your masterlink, just run a smear of silicon over it. It will pass semra tech. I would run a seperate coolant overflow. If your radiator lets any fluid into a combined catch tank, you will end up with the carb not being able to vent and spend all night chasing mystery tuning problems. I put the radiator tanks on the plastic air vanes right in front.
Make sure you have only water or water wetter in the radiator. As for cylinder drains, oil filter bolts, etc, I have not seen semra tech being overly strict. If in doubt, I would wire them up. Much easier in your shop than at the track.
Caleb and I look forward to seeing you guys there.

Thanks for the tip on the M/L, I've safety wired ALL the necassary bolts/filler caps, installed my carb catch-can with proper vent'ing and my coolant can should arrive today only to not make it this weekend. I hope you guys have a good time and now that the bikes set-up to pass inspection I'll see ya'll at another race.

OK, me and the wife was babyless this weekend and decided to run out there to watch. The fast lap riders were BLAZING FAST. Carl pulled 4th in the finals representing GAMRA well. All in all it was a haul but worth it.
