View Full Version : Support for DSRL

When this forum started years ago the costs and support needed to keep it going were minimal. A few riding buddies and a few crazies would get together for a ride, good eatin', good scenery, and plenty of talk. Life was simple and we had a place to post our exploits, concerns, and even our occasional cry for help.....which we always received. I cannot begin to list how many times a fellow DSRL'er stepped up with tools, gear, a shop, or some other form of help when I was in need.

Over the years we've managed to grow exponentially and because of it so have the costs to maintain the website. Server costs are almost 4 TIMES what they were only a year or two ago and when donations have run dry Juice has picked up the slack out of his own pocket. If you're like me you already own 4 or 5 t-shirts which has helped to raise some money, but they really weren't designed and sold to "float the boat". Sporadic donations are great, but that comes in waves as well and eventually dies off. Sooo....if anyone is ABLE to spare a donation of a few dollars a month to keep this place going it is much appreciated! With the economy the way it is we all understand the concept of a tight budget, but if we all chip in just a little bit and skip one fast food meal (yea right) it will more than cover everything. What extra there may be goes right back into the website and the get-togethers that we have.

If you're able to, and would like to commit to a monthly donation subscription, then just post up here with your paypal address and amount or PM Juice if you want to keep it anonymous. Every little bit helps and is MUCH appreciated. Let's keep this community growing and make sure we have a place to post without all the drama for a good while longer.

I also remember juice saying something about free tire changes for monthly subscribers. Juice, please correct/forgive me if I am wrong?

Dusty,

Yeah, you are correct, we purchased a No Mar changer back in April. Monthly subscribers will receive tire changes free of charge, and also will have restricted access to my shop, bike lifts and any other tools that are in the DSRL tool box.

Thanks for the forum subscriptions Chop. It is appreciated and very much needed. If we could just manage to pick up 1-2 new subscribers a month all of our problems with this shitty server would go away.

He Juice, I'm too scatter-brained to worry about a monthly subscription. What about a one time donation for the year? Do you accept cash or checks? I'll hook you up one day for a meet and greet or something like that.

Juice

Paypal is the preferend method for donations but check or cash is ok too.

You will not have to remember to send payment. DSRL will send you an papal invoice every month.

Juice, did we get a dedicated server? I thought they were priced out of range?

Yeah, they are priced out of our budget, but at this point, I don't think we had very much of a choice. I recently found out that our most recent backup was over a year old. We could not afford to wait any longer. If it would have crashed again it would have been back to square one for DSRL. With that said, we really need to pick up a few more monhly subscriptions to help offset the cost. If any of you guys have any idea or suggestions for fundraising, please speak up. Any help will be much appreciated.

As of today 12-15-09 your user title will now be labled either as a forum supporter or a freeloaded. If you are currently a forum supporter and have a freeloader tag under your username please contact myself, Juice or any of the mods. Nothing more to see here please move along.

Peace and love!

Thread cleaned!!!!!!! Rocky you do have a way with words. It is actually a tag inside the billing software that lets the new invoicing software separate the forum subscribers from the registered users. I suppose we could have set it up to say something other than "Freeloader" but I thought that term seemed appropriate. Sorry, If I offended anyone that was not my intention.

Where else can you get endless entertainment for $7.00 a month. Thats less than a tank of fuel or a fast food breakfast. I absolutely love this place, it's very unique and close knit unlike most other forums. I just wish i had something local as you guys do.....Enjoy!!!!!

I still have not got off of my ass and did anything with the domain that i purchased last year. When i do, i plan to use DSRL as a template, with juices permission of course.

You accepting gear as donations? I got a pair of motocross boots that I wore once, a helmet I wore once and a pair of Joe Rocket riding pants that I bought on ebay and are way too big for me. If you're interested let me know and I'll bring 'em over to you.

Hey Kenny,

Yeah, very interested in anything that you have. All donated gear is listed in the pay it forward section of the classifieds as "free with site donation". Financially the site has been in a bind for the last few years, so every little bit helps. Thank you for your generosity, it is very much appreciated.

Brian

When and where do you want me to bring you these things? Tiffany said Nicole told her that you spent most of your time at the camp now-a-days. You gonna be there tomorrow morning? I can strap all this stuff to the Tiger and take her for a run. Let me know and I'll make it happen.
