This is mona, Aaron was admitted to icu hopefully only
for the night but looks like he is going to be here for a few
days, your more than welcome to stop by and see him
but I took his phone so he won't be posting for a few days
anyway. He has a broken collarbone, shoulderblade, a couple
of ribs and a punctured lung. Not giving him to much hell
he is beating himself up because he screwed up. I'll save
that for later.

Yeah, at least the "Easy" window is up for user discretion and lies in the eye of the beholder unlike a when your gal tells you she's a "little" pregnant or has just a "little" bit of the herpes.

Campout is doubtful. Mom & dad flew down yesterday after changing their plans, so I'll be spending time with them.

It looks like I may have worked out a deal with mom & Mona that should allow me to keep the bikes. More details as it evolves.

It's good to be home in any case.

Hi Aaron, Hope you are doing better.

The doc is correct on the 6 week healing for ribs, but from recent experience I can tell you that you will still feel them 3 or 4 months. I was still pretty active and actually appeared in court with some clients the day after they sent me home, however the ribs still let me know after the 4 months that they were still "fixing" from time to time. I can t really put a time on when I didnt notice them anymore, but one day I realized they were normal again.

You poked a hole in a lung which is actually somewhat common from what the doc who worked on me said. They spend a good bit of time taking MRI and xrays to be sure I didnt have that problem and actually had a surgeon on standby .

Oh.. you will definitely fall in love with your pillow to hug when you sneeze or cough. Laughing is not recommended either !

Get well soon dude !

BTW Which bike were you on ?

picked it up this morning. they towed it well as there is no damage other than what i did to it.

Basically, both side bags are tweaked & the right side engine guards need to be replaced. otherwise, it started right up and didn't even smoke.

going to call progressive today and see what they'll do for the parts & gear. hopefully they'll put it right back where it was.

These things are tough.

Bike's at Hebert's for fixing. Progressive is so far so good. Gear will be covered. From my quick estimate, I'm betting around $3500 to replace the scuffed guards & bags.

Oh yeah. Thanks to Juice for the help moving the bike from where we parked the trailer to the shop. Mom & dad appreciated it.

Last gear comment: scoff at my chaps if you want, but they're totally trashed and I didn't even end up with any marks on my pants from bouncing down Siegen.

cbbr
09-23-2009, 06:14 AM
Congrats! Good to hear that Progressive is doing what they should. And there are a couple of guys in my building that look at me funny when I am putting on all of the gear as they put on half helmets, but I think that we all know the end to that story.

Progressive has done right by me in a couple of not-at-fault wrecks.

How are you healing up Aaron?

2Evil4U
09-25-2009, 10:40 AM
Slowly. I'm starting to be able to move my shoulder a bit on it's own. I'm amazed at how interconnected the muscles of the shoulder and back are. If I lean forward and look at the ground my whole arm catches on fire. Pretty odd. Got a follow up on Monday for the pneumo-thorax and to check out my ankle. We'll see how it goes.

ka5ysy
09-25-2009, 03:41 PM
I went and visited with your GSA today. Those bars and the bags did well in preventing major damage. The only thing else that seems broken is the right front turn signal lens.

Keep healing, and take it slow. I can verify, as my wife always tells me, "it's all hooked together!"

2Evil4U
09-29-2009, 07:57 AM
Follow up went well. Pneomothorax is about gone. Doc couldn't find the broken rib, soisn't totally sure what cuased the lung puncture. Collar bone is crakced but straight. Shoulder blade is another story. Broken clean in half and the top half looks to be rotated about 90 degrees clockwise. (I'm sick to death of doctors looking at my X-Rays and saying, "My God that must be unbelievably painful." when it's really not at all.)

Top that all off with finding out that I fractured the lower tip of the smaller long-bone in my right leg in the first get off and I'm starting to not want to go to the doctor's office anymore.

Oh well. Might as well get it all over with at once.

Shaq Diesel
09-29-2009, 07:15 PM

2Evil4U
09-30-2009, 06:43 AM

10-01-2009, 06:20 PM

2Evil4U
10-12-2009, 07:22 PM
Getting better. I've probably managed to get about 50% use of my arm back so far. It's making me grumpy as it doesn't seem to be getting better as fast as I want it to, but I have to remind myself that I'm less than four weeks from the crash at this point. Hopefully it will come back fully, but I'm a little concerned about some weird muscular/nerve pain that kicks in on and off. Doesn't seem to be fracture related, but will really cause me to take notice when it decides to go.

Should be picking the bike up tomorrow. Hopefully delivering it to it's new home later this week.
