I've been on street bikes since 1987 from "crotch-rockets" to Custom Choppers, I've been riding Motards exclusively for the past year and are noticing how little respect I get from cars. They either don't see me or don't care and pull-out in front of or merge over onto me regularly. I've only ridden half a dozen of times since my accident and already had an old fucker pull a gun on me cuz I cursed him for pulling out on me and just Thur for our meet and greet had a girl pull out on me as I was leaving my neighborhood again and laughed. WTF is going on, am I the only one experiencing this? I'm thinking it's the bike and the off-road helmet I wear. To them they must see a dirtbike that shouldn't be on the road or can someone help make sense of this for me. I know some of you heard me say I wouldn't ride during high traffic times of the day but ta-hell-with-it , I've been riding a LONG time and it's never been this bad.

Not you. Most drivers here are too distracted to give a shit. When that stuff happens to me I just go around the obstacle with the Stebel blasting and disappear into the traffic.

Try and get their license number...
You can complain, here, all you want, and they'll keep on doing it....

If you can file a formal complaint, that will warrant a visit to them by the popo, maybe they'll think twice about it, next time.
I'm not trying to dig at you, Phil, this it to everyone...
You're absolutely right... enough is enough.
We have to do SOMETHING...

+1. We NEED to start fighting back versus the morons in their cars by not only going to the police, but to the politicians as well. The politicians need to start putting pressure on the police to crack down on idiot drivers instead of only focusing on speeding citations.

Did you turn in that idiot that pulled a gun on you? The last I knew is that is considered brandishing a weapon and is illegal.

Mostly the problem is they just plain don't see you. Actually they don't look long enough to see you.
Watch the news and count how many big yellow school buses are run into. Hell these people can't even see a big yellow school bus much less our little bikes and us.
The solution is to assume nobody sees you, that you have no right of way and everyone is out to run you over or off the road.
I'm not saying it is right, I'm just saying it will save your ass and your bike.

Be careful out there, we are no match for a 4000 pound piece of iron.

almost got run over tonight when jake and i were about to cross the railroad tracks at brightside/lee & nicholson. the guy was a couple cars behind us in a suburban and flew around everyone and almost ran completely over us, but we slammed the brakes on and hit the white line. i've got his plate number. jake called 911 about it but the guy said they were swamped and to hold for just a second so he could answer another 911 call after jake said no one was injured and the guy fled. after a minute or two of waiting, jake hung up and they never called back. we "safely" gave chase to get the plate number.

I did the same thing on Court Street in Port Allen. Called the cops they came to my shop and brought me to the address from the plate, they wanted me to I.D. The Acura that put me in the middle of the street between traffic was in the drive but the driver wasn't home. Cops brought me back to the shop and haven't done shit since! A ball bearing throught he windshield may help relieve resentment! I already carry three aftermarket body parts from dumb shits, can't afford anymore. It's not just you and in B.R. on the Interstate is the worst in the country,

I'm not sure that 911 will ever give a rat about near-hits. The only time I've ever had any success getting someone stopped, I called the police about a car that was acting the fool in my subdivision and then driving recklessly on the highway after he left as we were leaving. They had me follow him until a cop picked it up and got it stopped.

Maybe you should get the plate and just call the police and report a potential drunk driving erratically that almost hit you. That might get some attention.

Some people in this town don't even recognize other cars, much less a skinny little motorcycle. I've been riding with a lot more caution lately. Stu's wreck was an eye opener for me.

I'm so good at that it seems I'm making myself disappear, even after making eye contact they still have pulled out on me. I've noticed I get noticed more on the BMW and I don't remember ever having that problem on the Chopper. I chaulked it up to being on the Motards and while riding them I'm more cautious. It's really shitty I've experienced this twice in the past 3 or 4 months and probably only a total of 4 times in all my years of riding.

I have been riding in a group of 3...staggered in the left lane...and watched some dingbat come down the on ramp...cross 4 lanes of heavy traffic and almost take one of my buddies out...he was in the emergency lane with the horn blaring before she saw him...Phoenix...her plate wat HTCKN...keep an eye out for her...she is deadly...

In the last two days, I've been around two separate wrecks- both because someone didn't see the other vehicle coming! These were full size SUV's in both cases!!!

Really makes one think... I've seen more wrecks and totally asshole, inconsiderate driving along with more traffic this holiday season. Fuckin terrible!

Attitudes on the road have gotten worse since Thanksgiving. Prior to that I would describe my commute as generally leisurely with a few random acts of idiocy. (My own bounce down Seigen included.) With the holidays approaching it is clear people have a lot more on their minds than just getting to their destinations safely.

I was doing 70 down a 4 lane HWY the other day, when a car comes up on my ass FAST in the fast lane. I notice in my mirror that he is driving pretty erratic. When the jackass passes me, I notice that he's driving with his knees, and texting with both hands.

This time last year, I had just bought a used truck to help me make it through the winter (pre heated gear). On my way to work one morning, I saw a car pulled up to a stop sign, and stop. I was a long way back, and no one was approching in the oncomming lane. When she didn't go, my years on a motorcycle told me that she was going to pull out at just the wrong time. I let off the gas, and sure enough, she pulled out when I was about 30 feet away. I went to the other shoulder, but she hit me anyway, Totaled both vehicles, but we walked away with only minor injuries. If I hadn't been anticipating her stupidity, She would have been killed, and I would have been in pretty bad shape also. Turns out it was a sixteen year old girl texting.

I think MADD should leave me alone, and look closer to home for something to bitch about!

You should invest in this http://www.academy.com/index.php?page=content&target=products/recreation/air_guns/soft_air&start=0&selectedSKU=0364-00689-7463

And some of these http://www.bocabearings.com/main1.aspx?p=product&id=9609&n=6MM_CHROME_GR.25_BALLS_(100)

Thats plenty to pop tempered side windows and mirrors, will put some nice cracks in windsheilds if you hit them right.

I really don't think just honking your horn, shaking your fist or even calling the cops is enough to solve stupidity and absent-mindedness in people these days, you have to pop their safety bubble to make them consiously be cautious.

Good way to get yourself killed.
If you are going to pull a firearm it had better be real, you better have a good reason to point it at someone and you had damn sure be ready tp kill them.

You pointed that thing at me out in traffic I would kill you and I would not be charged with a crime here in Texas. It is called self defense.

You need to have a discussion with someone who is responsible, about firearms, toy and real.

I was thinking the same thing. You may as well use a real gun because that's what you'll be charged with.

I was at a red light on my bike and some dumbass pointed a pellet gun at me. I knew it was a pellet gun because I had one exactly like it. He got an ass whoopin' through a car window. I seriously doubt he ever did it again.

I would have to say you must be right about the dirtbike appearance. I ride one of two sport tourers 20,000 plus miles a year, including commuting to work and I am generally amazed by the courtesy/ wide berth that most motorists give me. On the other hand, I have noticed that the overall skill level and attention level of the average driver has decreased steadily over the last ten years.
