In the next few days we will be migrating service providers... the new provider should make the server MUCH more stable... less prone to data loss... and everyone should be happier... it will be slightly more expensive per month to host the site but we will be getting a MUCH better service...

WHAT THIS WILL MEAN TO YOU:

AT SOME TIME OVER THE NEXT COUPLE DAYS THE SITE WILL GO DOWN...

TRANSITION TO THE NEW SITE COULD TAKE AS LONG AS 24-48 HOURS SO PLEASE BE PATIENT

DURING THIS TIME YOU MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE ACCESS TO POST UNTIL THE SITE IS TRANSFERRED AND DNS SERVERS HAVE BEEN UPDATED TO THE NEW HOST... IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS AFTER THE MIGRATION PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME OR PM ME ON HERE OR CALL ME

You can post questions/comments etc here

Well if you are reading this it means you made the jump to the new server!!!

If you notice any problems with it please post it here so that I may try to rectify them :)

any flaws so far?

the only issues i know are outstanding are the images on the individual state's pages from the 50 state race (the actual webpages not the forum pages)... they are just time consuming to fix... I fixed all the other pages...

and Juice let me know once you get that confirmation email please

Looks good cursorily.

Do we have a functional backup at this point?

I told them a long time ago to switch to synthetic oil. It really does make a difference.

Now if they will just grease the muffler bearings once in a while it should just cruise right along.http://i519.photobucket.com/albums/u355/2-0Dogs/Junk/ricky.gif?t=1256749287

haha thank the new hosts they did most of the work lol... saved me HOURS of work...

Seems to me like the server is much faster in terms of processing posts and searchs just not sure yet about the download speeds... I'm on 20 meg cable and I was only able to get 300 or so kbps download (aprox 1/3 of 1meg) although it doesn't appear to be their servers that are the issue it appears to be the link between cox and cogentco (a semi large internet backbone)... time will see...

as far as backups... this host automatically does backups every hour :) should never run into backup issues again!

Thanks for the upgrade. One down fall tho

My wife said if DSRL has to go down again she wants to know about because I drove her crazy last night without it LOL. Great job I find it much faster.

thanks for the heads up (and from 2dogs got your pm) i'll check it out tonight... i'm sure its just something not in the right folder or a path set wrong... never did try out photopost after we did the move... but we definitely still have all the photos... none have been lost
