Well I bumped into a buddy of mine and he gave me a pelican case. It is kinda small for a tail box but all I really need it to hold is a tool roll couple packs of smokes and my lunch. If I start too ride outta state I will get some side bags/boxes .

So I went home broke out the tools and got to work. I sanded the bumps off the bottom of the case so it would sit flat and picked up some longer bolts I was going to use all 8 rack bolts but since its a small case I just used 6 bolts.

PS If this is posted in the worng place please move.

When you come over I have a Givi I will show you.. If you want it I will help you mount it...

Carl

Edit... nice job mounting that... It looks to be mounted very solidly.. I only used 4 bolts when I had a Pelican on my KLR...

Yes I will check it out. I only have a 10/15mile ride each way to work but that backpack has been a pain in the ass for only a couple things.

I think that size is going to work great for me. When I start taking long trips I may get some side bags/boxes. But for going to work and around town its going to work out very well.

Model is 1450. http://www.pelican.com/cases_detail_specs.php?Case=1450

I also need to work on my tool kit. I also want to pick up a few metric bolts to keep for when things shake loose tire patch kit and a couple more hand tools. I saw a post or two a while back that I need to go back to and read up on.
I have added a couple things to the stock tool kit to hold me over till I get it right.

Nice work. I'm going to put one on my DR. My second soft bag just came unstitched. I need something more durable.

Add a small tube of blue loctite, a JB Weld stick and about 6 feet of duct tape rolled up around the flashlight tube. You can then fix the world if necessary.

I just finished my case on the DR650. I found a Seahorse model SX-520 for $43. It's just a tad narrower than the Pelican 1450 case but it looks good on the DR.

There's another one 2" deeper - Model SX-540 for $47.
