I get a notice in the mail that my bike registration was canceled for the reasons of failing to maintain insurance. I know this is not the case because I bought a year long policy in August. I brought the binder to the DMV in August to get the plate transferred from Juice to myself. I followed the instructions on the DMV notice. "Take this notice along with proof of insurance to your local DMV". HA what a fucking joke. I wait over an hour at the Mandeville DMV to be told they could not help me because I had to go to a re-instatement office (Slidell, Hammond, or Baton Rouge):grrrrr: The next day I go to Slidell, wait 45 minutes. Showed them my paperwork, and 2 minutes later the guy prints a re-in statement form and says thank you. The problem was Juice had Progressive insurance and so do I. When he canceled his policy, and since we transferred the plate, his policy cancellation triggered something on that plate not having insurance. I guess the minimum wage flunkies couldn't figure out there was another policy on that plate, so they canceled me.:grrrrr:
So, two days later, 200 miles of running around, couple 5-6 hours of my time, and a whole lot of heart ache it is now fixed. The DMV is so :lame:

That's my vent for the day!

In that case, I bet the ass-hats probably flagged my license for dropping the insurance. Typical of the DMV, what more should one expect?

I didn't think of that, but it is a real possibility.

That is wierd..
I had bought my Bandit, used, about 6 months before I moved here several years ago, from a dealership in Shreveport.
Had insurance on hand, before I ever left the dealership...
All was fine and dandy... So I THOUGHT...

Skip ahead to last year, when I go into the DMV, to go through the process of getting my, (now Swampy's) 929 titled to me/registered, etc.
The lady starts pulling up my info, and states "You're going to need to go over there (pointing to the state police side of the building) because we see that your license has been suspended, sir"
With the blank WTF look in my eyes, i ask for what???
She said I can't help you further, blah blah blah...
So I grab another number, and get in that line,..
Come to find out, Geico, when I first got the policy, had 1 digit wrong in the VIN, for my account/policy.
Due to this, it looked like the bike was never insured, and was flagged 30 days after purchase.
So for aproximately, 4 years, I had a suspended license, and appeared to have a bike with no insurance.
I called Geico, found and fixed the discrepency, and had them fax me a copy of proof of insurance back dated to show the bike was covered from day 1.
They cleared the flag, no problem, after that...
Funny thing, I was on a RM group ride, maybe a year prior to this, where we all pulled into a gas station followed by a sheriff, who asked to see all of our id's.
He ran mine, and never caught that it was suspended...

You probably looked a little more responsible than some of the other riders and he probably didn't run yours.

Our government doing what it does best. Screwing things up and pissing all over the citizenry.

Transferring the plate was probably a bad idea to start with. That's expecting too much from the DMF's at DMV.

FWIW: Whenever you sell any kind of vehicle, pull the plate and turn it in. That solves all the problems that are noted above, and more importantly, if the purchaser goes around doing stuff resulting in a ticket, you dont get a visit for a failure to appear in court as have several of my clients have.

If you run into the "not insured" mess with DMV, an affidavit of non-use on the public roads of Louisiana will quickly dump water on that mess.

And lastly, NEVER, NEVER NEVER purchase a vehicle of any kind that is not properly titled in the name of the seller you are buying from.

So your saying that all those red lights with the cameras that I ran back in early August counts against Juice? That would explain why I have not gotten any notice in the mail. I thought the cameras were broken.

Good points for future reference.

I have to pay $1600 to the DMV next week. maybe it will help Jindal keep benefits to some of the state employees.
