We actually got the clutch cable on my bike. We got it to crank but can not get it to stay running. I thought I had the wiring figured out but for some reason can't get the lights to work. It blowed a fuse and I an tired of dealing with it for today but hoping to get something else done soon.

Outstanding!!

How long was it sitting up? Could be bad gas has the carb gummed up a bit.
As for the electrical, If it's popping the fuse as soon as the lights get power to them? It sounds like a hot wire is grounded. Go back and retrace the wires to make sure you didn't hook something up backwards. If that fails, get a bunch of spare fuses and start unplugging different circuits one at a time. (for example: unplug the headlight, and turn the bike on. If it doesn't blow the fuse, the something in THAT circuit is the culprit)

I freakin' HATE electrical gremlins... it's too tedious a job.

the electrical problem is in the headlight deal as I am putting an 08 headlight assembly on it. I got led rear blinkers hooked up and they are working. I figure I need to clean carb as it has been sitting up but I did drain the tank and ran bike until it quit. I have a vapor speedometer and 17" front wheel for it but that can wait until I have more help. I just want it running asap as I want to ride some while on vacation if I can. I am feeling a lot better about it at least as I finally got started. I may have to bring it to the shop for the carb Thanks for everyone listening to my whining

Ok, just so I'm straight on it... all that you're changing electricly is the headlight? everything else is the same?
Did you have to change the connector?
Did you try plugging the old headlight back in to see if the problem persisted?

The old headlight worked just before I hooked up the new one so I am pretty sure I just wired it up wrong

How much should it cost to get carb cleaned

I got the lights hooked up and lights and blinkers work, now all I need is to get carb cleaned, and put tank and seat back on bike. I want to go to Vapor speedometor and 17" front wheel but that can wait a while

Glad your getting it together.

Bruce, try running some Sea Foam through the carb before you yank it and have it cleaned. Might work... might not... but it's only a few dollar gamble ;)

They have a spray Seafoam as well that you cam spray in the carb.

(Just in case the spray was not what Redbird was talking about.)

Seafoam is good stuff. I run it in my fuel tanks on a regular basis on everything with an engine.

It will act as a fuel stabilizer as well, for long term storage.

This stuff used to sell for $3.50 a can now it is close around $7.00. Wonder why? The word got out it works.

There's a spray?! :D

I didn't know that. I need to pick up a can of the regular stuff to run through my KLR as well.

There are some folks that don't even know what the hell Seafoam is. Much less that there is a aerosol version.

Believe it or not! :jawdrop:
