I'm about to start buying new chain, sprockets, brakes and tires for my supermoto. Granted my sumo is street legal. I'm looking for a tire for most on road activities, but will work "somewhat" off road. Right now i have continental SM street tires on it. But last time we made our little SM adventure around BR. My stret tires became slicker than cat cum on a honey bun when we hit the wet grass, LoL......I'm thinking of going with the Avon Distanza's in SM compound. Any guys with SM agree/disagree on that choice. Or should i be looking for something else?

I run em on my Husky Respect. I've been VERY impressed with them so long as they are warm.

distanzias do really well on the street, and better than pure street tires on dirt. i prefer the pirelli MT60 though myself.

Distanzas, the only problem with em is if you need the 150 or 160 those are their SM compunds which or a soft compound which you know what happens to a soft compound tire used on the street. Funny thing is I never kept a bike long enough that I used them on to tell you how many miles to expect out of them. I can say they worked GREAT on the road, stickier than the Michellin 2CT.

phil, you sure did put a nice chicken strip on the distanzia rear i got from you! i've been having to play catch up to knock the sides off. i think it's a lost cause though... i'm gonna order a new set of MT60's soon

I've got over 1800 miles on mine and ridden HARD. They are still in great shape and I run track days and in the mountains.

Well im currently running the 160 on the rear right now. But im thinking of going with the 150 when i get new tires. The 160 is a bit on the wide side, becaue my chain likes to rub it a little. I'm guessing the 150 will keep the chain off of it a little more. Just dunno if there is "that" much a difference between the 150 and 160.

If I would've kept the bikes I was running them tires on, I was planning on stepping down to a 150 also.
Come on Driz, I thought you'd bite on the Michellin comment.lol

On the 07 400 SM the 150s are real close to hitting the chain a 160 would hit for sure.
I put 100 miles on the DR-z today with metzeler z6 roadtecs and really like them so far now I may change my mind on wet roads grass dirt and gravel.
