Don't know if anybody is interested, but here's a few pictures of the install of the SW-MOTECH Rally crash bars on my R1150GS. I got them from http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade...view/2088/204/

The instructions were not the best, so here are a couple of suggestions. 1) As usual don't tighten the bolts until after they're all put on and 2) Loosen the tank so you can move it up and out of the way.

All in all it took about 1 1/2 hours to finish. I've unfortunately tested them in a slide at approx. 40 mph. Eekster No damage to the bike (or me Wiggle ). Made a couple small scratches on the bar that hit the ground and a small scratch on my Jesse Bag (which survived by pushing itself off the brackets). I'm very pleased with the bars after this crash!

The biggest negative about them would be that you have to remove the lower bracket to change the oil.

Oh and btw they make excellent leg rest!

Just a post for anyone who was thinking about them.

Mike

Good looking bars! I've got the Hepco & Beckers on my 12GS and although I haven't tested their crash worthiness yet, they do make great footrests also!!

It's a 2003. 21,000 miles. Absolutely no problems! It just keeps on putting. A GS isn't pretty to look at, but the further you get away from civilization the prettier it gets! My daughter and I are planning on taking it to New York and Canda this summer. I'm probably going to Mexico this winter and Alaska next summer. Should be some good test. If you never hear from me again, after the trips, then maybe it wasn't as good as I thought it was...............ROFL

I have to admit. That wasn't a controlled planned test.

BTW, I do wear protective gear and I was VERY glad I did that day!
