Two MONTHS ago, I had Juggalo tow my precious magnum to the All Star Dodge as there was a serious miss and the engine was in limp mode.
TODAY, I FINALLY got it back and paid a bill of $2422. Thankfully, my extended warranty (I always purchase on used vehicles) covered most of it and I had to come out of pocket $374. All lifters and pushrods had to be replaced as did the MDS solonoids, egr valve, crank sensor, as well as all top end gaskets and synthetic oil change. Even the combustion chambers were cleaned.
I sure hope this fixes the problem. I've never had any real trouble with the car and now it's my wife's...

Judging by the parts replacement, they thought it was the Cylinder drop system causing the problem?
My wife's '06 Hemi D has about 87000 on it now and the only thing I've had to replace so far was the EGR Valve. ($60 for the part and I replaced it myself.) (Those were weird symptoms.)
How long have you had it? And do you know if it has always had 5W20 oil run in it?

Perhaps you should have "Dropped a Deuce" in the lobby of the dealership. Then they would've got you outta there before you knew it :D

Yeah, I saw the lifters myself and they definitely failed. I have run 5w20 mobil one full synthetic since I purchased it with 18k on the odometer. The engine looked brand new when I saw it disassembled. I was suitably impressed with mobil one after seeing the results first hand. I change every 5k miles. They don't know what caused the issue but the mechanic told me he had seen this before in the hemi's with MDS. Hope that shit don't fail again as it is a MAJOR job to repair it.

MDS is bigger pile of crap than what is in your avatar....

Hope not. I've got it on two vehicles.

We've got 85000 on our bought new '06. No issues to date with the MDS.

It's not tremendously common. I have always noticed a lot of lifter noise from my car from the day I purchased it but just assumed it is a characteristic of that engine. I'll have to listen for that sound to see if it is still there.

LOL. I just noticed this post. The funny thing with your suggestion is I have had the pleasure of being escorted out of THREE dealerships in the past. I've had the police called on me twice and once I left before the cops got there. :D What can I say, I don't like being lied to!!!

I have been very skeptical of that system. I was wondering how well it worked.

I can compare with and without. My Hemi Durango has MDS and I can get 21MPG on longer trips if i go easy on it. My Hemi D2500 Ram didn't have it and I could get maybe 17.5 MPG going easy on it. Ram probably weighed a little less than the Durango when unloaded, but had 3.73 gears compared to the D's 3.43's (Or something like that.)
Now, if you constantly jackrabbit accelerate, either one of them will drop into the 12-13mpg range.

The system is actually QUITE impressive. You really never notice other than a slight drone in the exhaust note. The instant your foot pushes the pedal, it is back to v8. In my Magnum at 75-80mph hwy cruising, I average about 23-24mpg with an overall average of about 19-20 through a normal tank of fuel. Considering it is a 345hp V8, I would consider that to be exceptional.
My new Chevy also has the mds type of system. It's gearing is much shorter so at 72mph I can get 21-22mpg but at 75 it drops to 19-20. By 80, it's over and I am rolling around 17mpg.
Funny thing is in the Chevy, if I ran 65mph (which I did during milage expermintation) I would get about 23mpg from a V8

Why does that not surprise me :D

Uh, you're in a building full of car salesman... what did you expect?!

Actually, I'm pretty easy going and understand the game...until something dirty is tried on me. In my defense, each of the times to which I am referring, the dealership DESERVED everything I gave them and more. I have not been allowed back (not that ever would anyway) into Royal Nissan since 2005! LOL
I let the salesmen know UP FRONT not to fuck with me. This recent purchase actually went very well. Amazing how easily things go when respect and truth are given from all sides.

Wow. I've never seen an SRT get over 18 on the hwy. Usually 12-13 in town with all the people I know with one. That's pretty good Sr. You still got it?
