A dear friend of mine, whom many of you know, had a tragic thing happen yesterday.

Wayne Babin's (used to work at lightspeed and now works at B&B Thumper shop) 12 year old son was hit by a car yesterday and is in ICU at the lake. Looks like he is going to recover but he has sustained MAJOR injuries. He had a surgery last night to repair his broken neck, and fractured skull. This morning, he had a plate installed into his hip as well as a rod and 10 screws into his femur. Wayne and Eleise are not the kind of people to ever ask for help but are really good people. If anyone would like to donate anything to help them for the next few weeks please let me know. My paypal account is listed under latrackrider@gmail.com. I will make sure every cent gets delivered to them. There is no problem if you don't wish to donate. I have not informed them of this post as it might embarrass them but they are really good friends of mine and as I said REALLY good people. If you don't wish to donate, I ask for your prayers for them during this tough time.

Please do not call him right now. They are doing well but I feel no need to make them relive the experience any more than they already have. I'll continue to post updates for those concerned.

Thank you for reading.

i can't, or should i say i won't let myself imagine how it must feel for something of this nature to happen to any of my children. it is truly my worst nightmare.
i pray for wayne's child to make a full and speedy recovery and for God to give the family a peace beyond all understanding. Amen.

thanks brian. on the job tonight, so i had to go check in on the little man. out of respect for the family, let me just say, he looks real good, is resting well, is under excellent care and family is at bedside. i did take the liberty of offering up anything they might need and to let us know. i gave Wayne my number and let him know we are all deeply concerned.

Thanks Zeal. I have not visited yet because I always stay out of the family's way when someone is in ICU. I appreciate you checking in on them for us.

Thanks Zeal. I have not visited yet because I always stay out of the family's way when someone is in ICU. I appreciate you checking in on them for us.you are correct in your actions. i find it better to just convey my concern in the most simple way and let someone know i am here. Wayne and his family are very sweet and grateful people, in my opinion and they have been informed of our readiness to help and that they are in our most sincere prayers.

Hayden is doing well. Let's hear it for youth! He only took one pain pill yesterday. Elyse and Wayne went home yesterday for some much needed rest. Hayden should be moved to a normal room out of ICU Sunday night or Monday.

A brief quote from Elyse's facebook...
My baby is such a TROOPER! He came out of surgery on his leg yesterday just fine. He's still in the Pediatric ICU for the next couple of days so they can monitor him. I thank God he's alive. Wayne and I spent last night with him so we are home for now but will be back up there during day tomorrow. We appreciate EVERYONE'S thoughts and prayers!!!!

Driz, I can make up a care package of snacks/breakfast bars for the family if you like. I know it's difficult to leave (physically and emotionally) the hospital to grab a bite. I'm on vacation this week, but it's no problem to make a trip to the warehouse. Just let me know.

Thanks everyone. Redbird, that would be great and I am sure they would appreciate that as would I.

Looks like a change has occurred today that will require the little dude to have to get a halo installed tomorrow. It will aid in the speed of his recovery but I don't ever want to imagine the inconvenience and lack of comfort this little man is going to experience, but God definitely has other plans for him. He is very lucky to be alive and even projected to recover.

got to visit with Hayden, Wayne and Elise tonight fairly early in my shift. he is looking very well. he got moved out of ICU, and is definitely showing major signs of his intent on putting up whatever size fight it takes to bounce out dis mug. Wayne is awesome with him and you can tell it in how he talks about the boy. he's already making plans for Hayden's care at home and looking way ahead, just like any good parent, to the positive. all told, the event and struggle here has most definitely taken a toll on them all. any act of kindness, no matter how small, is surely welcome. a card, a phone call, a meal. anything we can do to show our concern and support. and i thank everyone for every deed, and feel confident that the same kindness will find each and every one of you in your hour of need. i urged Wayne to visit the site (after he brought it up) just because i know the show of genuine concern and good will can make so much difference in how someone feels in a time like this. and i'm sure anyone here can at least begin to imagine what a shock and trauma it must be for a parent to have to endure an event such as this, involving the most tender part of their being....the love of their child.

UPDATE!!!

Hayden is supposed to be released from the hospital tonight! He will be wheelchair bound for a while and will be in a hella neck brace for 3 months. I believe everyone's prayers and good wishes are helping aid in such a recovery from something that really should have ended this little man's life. While we may never know the reason for this happening, I am thankful he is still with us and recovering.

On a personal note, in the recent weeks, I have seen great tragedy fall upon 2 children that I have known personally and it has made me even more aware of my relationship with my own family. How emergency workers are able to do their job when children are involved is beyond me and I am thankful for all of you who are able to do it. We do need you guys.

Well we went visit Hayden and family today and for a kid to go through what he went through, he is looking REALLY good. I got to see him smile today and watch him roll around outside in his wheelchair. He is already trying to go off roading in his wheelchair so his spirit is up for sure. He has got a long road to recovery and the family is just starting their hardship, but the outcome looks much better than just a week ago. For you praying types, I ask that you keep them in your prayers as the months of recovery and years of medical bills will be difficult as any one of us would imagine. They will continue to need strength in the future.

This is a quick excerpt from a correspondence I had with Elyse...

"Just wanted to also say that the DSRL thread really touched my heart....so many good people in this world willing to help others that they may or may not know. I couldn't ask for more....my cup runneth over! Like one of the comments mentioned, we don't know to what purpose all of this was done but hopefully it will make a difference in someone's life. My secret hope throughout all of this is for Hayden to bond more with Wayne. I would love for Hayden to become a wonderful man like my husband. "

I thank everyone again for your concern.
