Hey everyone, just need to do a little bitching. I've been working my tail off trying to get caught up from being out for 5 weeks of the semester. This is my last semester of graduate school to get my MFA in sculpture and I am only able to finish with 3 things in place. 1 Thesis Exhibition, 2 Oral Defense, 3 Thesis Paper. Well the show opened today so I got one down, the defense is on thurs, and the paper is due a few weeks later so it seems this will never quit. I guess if a masters was easy to get everyone would have one. It just sucks because all of these dates were set in stone before I knew I was going to lose an organ. There is nothing being thrown on my plate I can't handle it's just causing me to cut corners of time and right now I'm waking eating sleeping and shitting academia. The art show is at Foster Gallery on LSU campus. If any of you want to go see it this week, there is a closing reception from 6-8 on Friday the 16th. I would go to the crawfish boil but a bunch of family is driving in from Texas to hang out with me all weekend so it's not looking good. Not to mention I was informed by the insurance liaison for my student health insurance that they are trying to deny my claim for the surgery. Again, not something that can't be handled it's just one more thing to deal with. Pretty much I listen to this song and realize it ain't never gonna change, but at least there's a crybaby thread I can vent in.

you can do it, once it is over you will feel a great sense of accomplishment or at least i did.

after my thesis defense I treated myself to a Kimber 1911. I find that self administered reinforcement helps

let us know when the celebratory party is taking place

hell... bring em to the crawfish boil...
Oh well, once you get the paper on the wall, you can always joke with your collegues, and say, "I did my masters with a handicap, and still made par"...

Wait, "lose an organ"?! Sex Change or Medical Emergency? :P

Seriously though, I must've missed it... what the hell happened?

Thanks man, now I've got to write a letter of appeal to the insurance company so they can realize how dumb it is to deny my claim for a surgery that I was sent to the hospital to have done.

I'll bet they're just delaying. My insurance dicked around for about three months prior to paying the hospital for my crash. The longer they don't pay, the more they make.

I talked to them today and they sent me an official denial based on a technicality in the language that any person with half the IQ of a hammer could look at and go, "That's dumb." I don't feel like dispelling it all on the interwebs, due to the fact I may have to get a lawyer to deal with it, but basically I'm getting fucked.

That sucks.

Good luck in any case.

After getting everyone and their dog involved, I got the insurance to say, "We believe it is in our best interest to cover your procedures." Things are good again aside from the lost time and hassle to make it work.

Good on ya...tenacity to stick it out and not just go quietly into the night.
