I see that JeepGirl posted up on BOW that NitroX is in a hospital in Florida. I'm not sure what happened (accident, sickness, etc.) but he does need some prayers.

hey guys,
thanks for wondering about me. i've been in hospital here in panama city, fl for last 10 days. i came in with a bad cough and 101'ish fever.
at 1st they thought it was bronchitis but after tests they determined its a pulmonary embolism, aka blood clot in lung so then ran more tests and i have stage 3 non small cell lung cancer *sigh*.
Since one of the best oncology hospitals is in Houston, i am headed back to lafayette within a week or so after discharged from here (all my stuff is still in storage in lafayette, to start outpatient chemo. well, the thought of a beach summer playing guitar did sound fun but i did get a month or so in doing it. i quit smoking almost 2 yrs ago but i guess for me it still caught up to me.
kinna wild going from a saturday afternoon playing guitar on the beach to sunday night in the ER being diagnosed with cancer. im on facebook.com/scox11 and do updates there so add me if you want . peace out.

Jeepgirl posted this over on BOW last night.
I tried my best today to get a hold of Nitrox's close friends on here. I wanted to talk to yall first before I posted this. I am sorry that you are all having to find this out through a thread.
I got an email last night from his friend and she asked me to call her.
Again I hadnt heard from him in a while, I thought he was in the process of moving. His plans were to move down to Lafayette and make that his base while receiving treatment at MD Anderson.
Well I found out while he was home (Florida), he had no energy, and he was having a lot of trouble breathing and he decided to go back to the hospital to learn he has double Pneumonia. They have spent all week trying to get rid of it and cant. Friday he had to have a blood transfusion and Hospice has now stepped in. MD Anderson said there isnt much they can do. The doctors are saying its not going to be much longer. I spoke with him a little bit tonight, he doesnt sound as bad as I thought he would, but he didnt sound good.
His friend and I are leaving Monday morning to go see him. Please, Please, Please, keep him in your prayers.
I am a huge believer in prayers, that is the reason I am posting this up. The more, the better.
Ill post up an update as soon as anything comes up.
Please dont forget to pray for him.

I was asked to copy this post to here in case anyone wants to contribute.
Putting things together for Stephen (NiTrox)
I am leaving early in the morning to go down to Panama City to see him.
Right now I am putting together some funny quotes and sayings for when he has a bad day, it might cheer him up..etc. and I started thinking..
Would yall be interested in putting up messages for him that I can bring him tomorrow? Things like well wishes and things to cheer him up a little? I am probably going to post something up on the "other site" as well, and Ritten is putting something up on Dualriders, since he was on there quite a bit. I know it would mean a lot to him to hear from yall.
If you want to just keep this thread going with the messages, ill print it out tomorrow morning around 5.
I dont think if you send it via-pm he will get it, I think he isnt getting on the computer anymore.
If you would rather send it to me in an email.. FarFromGravity01 at aol dot com
I know this is going to make him happy.

Update
Last night I stayed at the hospital with him, he didnt get a lot of sleep and due to the guest and nurses and everyone else coming in every hour he hasnt been sleeping much. Today they kept him on a constant drip of the med's. He mentioned that he was feeling better because people were actually letting him sleep. We said our goodbyes around 11:30. He went back to sleep for a while and later in the day I think around 5 his friend said he was talking quite a bit. It ended up being a real good day for him.
Tomorrow morning he is leaving the hospital and going back home. Hospicse is setting him up at the house. Today he told his friend, he didnt want to be there and that he wanted to come home (Lafayette)
So the deal for the rest of this week is to try to get him stronger to either handle a 8 hour car ride, or his friend is looking into having him airlifted in. He is fighting like crazy. He wants to beat this stuff. Please keep him in your prayers, even if you dont know him, or only talked to him once. He is an awesome person, anyone who knows him will tell you that.

I just got word that he is being moved home around 2:00 today.
When he gets home the med's wont be constant anymore. He will be back to pushing the button when he wants them, which in a weird way I think is its a smart move to help in trying to fight. (sounds bad, im having a hard time wording all of this)
I think going home and actually getting to sleep, with some meds that strong enough to fight the pain will help.He will be able to sleep longer than an hour and not be in pain.
That and they are supposed to try giving him things like gatorade and pediasure..etc to try to give him some energy and get him more hydrated. We are hoping this will work enough to get him back home to Lafayette.
I really with all of my heart believe if he comes home, he has a better chance of fighting this. He has people that love him and will be there to see him and keep his thoughts positive.
He doesnt have a enough of that there.

I don't know how I missed this thread... Prayers sent.
Jeepless, or NitroX if you're reading this, I work for Kelloggs/Keebler. I can get my hands on a few cases of Nutrigrain bars/SpecialK bars/etc. with no trouble whatsoever. I know the chemo is rough, but the bars might be something that'll be light on the stomach. Let me know what flavors you like and I'll get you hooked up ;)

Ill pass the word! That is awesome!
He actually hasnt started chemo yet. He isnt strong enough with the pneumonia. But we are hoping he can kick that stuffs ass so he can get started!
Hopefully being home and actually being able to sleep it can help him get better so he can. I will remember this and tell his friend that is staying with him!
:) Thank you for being so generous! I know this will mean a lot to him!

I just got a phone call from Stephens friend, he passed away in his sleep last night.
Stephen went home yesterday around 2:30 and yesterday was a little rough for him.
He was tired and hurting. But, now he is in a place with no more pain.
Thank you all for the messages, the prayers and the love. He loved hearing from everyone.
Ill come back later and add the information about his services.
I am home in heaven, dear ones;
Oh so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in heaven at last.
There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remains,
You shall rest in Jesus' land.
When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!

I'm very sorry to hear this. But glad he was able to make it home. Sometimes, that's all that matters.
Godspeed Stephen. And Prayers for Family and Friends.
Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.
Morning Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.

We are actually having a jam session and BBQ in his memory on July second in Lafayette. If anyone is interested, let me know. I think a bunch of us are still having some trouble with it still. He was an awesome person and he left a big gap. : /
