Post up if you are going to attend. Carry on That is all!

i'm having my wisdom teeth removed that morning :(

I had a Navy Cpt. put his knee in my chest with insufficient sedation to yank out all 4 of mine in one sitting in Korea.

On the happy side, Uncle Sam was footin' the bill.

HAHAHAHA........Owned

Although, I know how you feel Greg. I took my Aprilia down a gravel road up in Colorado that was close to what that we did, but the only difference is that it was 4 miles one way of the stuff. Then I had to turn around and go through it again. At least it's ALWAYS easier the second time around. Just take your time, stay light on the bars, and heavy on the pegs........or go REALLY slow with your outriggers stretched out.

Em, youll do fine with the wisdom tooth thing, really its not a big deal! The dentist i work for does them all the time. Just dont suck through a straw or spit forcefully for like a week or youll get dry socket! or smoke! plus, youll get some good pain meds :)

I have no faith of street tires over gravel on concrete... knobby tires the gravel can go between the knobs... street tires just slide over the gravel until it rests on concrete... not a good combination especially on corners...

so if someone posts up where y'all are eating we'll meet y'all there otherwise we'll just go eat some molten cake thing at chillis :)

How about we meet on the other side of town and ride out HWY 22 or North to Denham... Seems like for the guys that do this ever week y'all would want to change it up a little. Or if Alligator Bayou road is that near and dear, how about turn left and head out to Lutcher for some food? I don't like going back to BR. I spend too much of my time there. Just a suggestion...

I like this idea, we could head out and hit Aligator Bayou Rd. Then run somewhere back up 22 and hit 16 and then eat at say Berthelots, Chili's in Denham, or somewhere different? From what I am seeing the weather will be nice, and then we can hit whatever and find somewhere to eat. Meet up same place and we can devise a route to suit or needs. Either way look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

Dude, there is NOTHING that chicks love better than a baby blue Aerostar, 4 cyl, 7 passenger beast sportin 15" hubs and a car seat. We're talking vinyl floor, scotchguard seats, and french fries in the cup holders. For extra points stick a "baby on board" yellow sign in the back window!

Man you guys are ruthless... Both me and Checkman from the other board almost ate it on Alligator Bayou road. Last time I rode it. He hit the first bit a gravel in the corner and slid out some and almost went into a tank slapper when he got traction. I almost ran into a truck pulling a boat that was in my lane and a suicidal squirrel, both were when I was leaned over in a corner but we ran that road at a pretty fast pace. You could slow down to 30mph or so in the corners and a little slower in the big one with the guard rail and have no worries at all. But that's just my $.02

Anyway it looks like I am going to miss this ride again... I forgot that I promised my step-daughter that if she practiced all week we would let her test for her next belt tonight at her Tae Kwon Do class. ($50)
I may be able to get out and ride after the testing but don't know just yet. Testing starts @ 6pm I may try to call Kevin or Brian if I get out to see where you guys are...

Help get me to the meeting point. I'm a yankee-with-a-u-haul and don't have the recon experience of the rest of you.

This "Old Perkins" can be found on yahoomaps just East of I-10 on Highland......twice. Once on the West side of the tracks and once on the East side of the tracks about 1/8th mile apart. The obvious clue would be the gas station, but I'm coming from the old Bon Marche Mall in HUGE traffic and may just make it in time, so don't want any mistakes my first time trying to get there.

Is this meeting place down where Highland hits I-10? Is it quicker to:

Take I-10
Take Essen to Perkins to Highland to Old Perkins
Take Airline...shit, I can't even type that with a straight face.

Anyone up for a mini-convoy from BR?

Juice
05-11-2006, 11:27 AM
The Exxon station is right in front of the Blue Bayou water park on Highland. If I was you EJ. I would take Government to Jefferson to airline to Highland.

minig0d
05-11-2006, 11:34 AM
bayou: the meeting point is on Highland Road at the Exxon I believe (unless I missed something)... Get off the I-10 at Highland Road and go NORTH off the exit (if you are coming from Baton Rouge heading out towards gonzales/new orleans on I-10 that will be a left off the bottom of the exit and you'll see the Exxon 1/4 mile up on your right hand side....

And Juice if ya'll nutcasses wanna run faster than me you're welcome too which is why I pulled over and let ya'll go first :) As far as what I ride how can you talk about it Nick you don't even have a dualsport OR a real streetbike... allthough that huffy you have will probably be a lot of fun around them curves with gravel :)

And I'm glad Loss4words was able to concur that streetbike tires and those roads with gravel are fking dangerous... and nick if you think you can do better I wanna see you go down that road since you have street tires on your bike at 40+ MPH...

Alligator Bayou Rd is the best road within a 50 miles radius of Baton Rouge. There are many places that you can get a knee down. Every time I ride through that swamp I find myself missing the RC-51.

I'm just busting your bubble Mini. Have fun dude, Ride your own ride. That is what it is all about.

Help out the FNG, then:

Are you guys going balls-out on this run? It sounded like it. I don't mind if you're picking a relatively cop-free route. I can hang. I'd rather not bulk up with the safety crap if you're not roosting rocks and backin' it in on 180deg switchbacks. I top out at 102mph and can sustain 90mph 'til it blurbles to reserve. I'm very comfortable in the 70-80mph range. The first time riding with you, though, I'll be riding drag 'cause I don't know the route or you're riding styles.

Hmmm.... do you think motocross boots go with tattoos? Does the slim seat make my ass look big?

I'm starting to sound like my wife...... asdf

EJ.

The talk is far worse then the Bite. It will be a brisk pace, not balls to the wall. I'm still working on getting my new tires scrubbed in.
I normally wear jeans street shoes, leather jacket and gloves. If we do my route there will be very minimum traffic till we hit the city for food.

EJ, were not runnin SuperMotard Extreme.

Nor will we be riding a SuperCross, however we might hit some twisties, lil straight line speed, and then converge on a target of some sort of food joint and consume and consoledate by fire. Don't think you need to go overkill on the safety gear, however what you feel is good to wear you do so. And motocross boots def. go with tatoos. My ass makes itself look big, not the seat....... and why did you have to mention the clock?

There are only a few spots on that road that you would get up to triple digits, and if you did, your hard on the breaks for the next turn....
I'm not scared to run that road hard but both times I have ran it hard there were at least 2 spots each time that my heart was in my throat. I'm no super rider or anything but I have gone down due to loose gravel on pavement and when your committed to a line and a little gravel crosses the line your on there is always that hold your breath, hold the line, and think about how much you spent on the last set of tires and how old they are....
I would say you hit mid 70's between corners and about 45mph or so thru all but one turn. The one with the guard rail I haven't taken over 30mph yet but I might just be a sissy...
Great road, great pavement, no place for cops to hide, but I would like to go out there and sweep the trash out of the corners and then I wouldn't have any problems kicking it up a notch and see if I could drag the pegs on the SV.

Oh and I am scared the 8yo will whoop up on me if I skipped out on the promise I made her. Little kids are mean and attack the lower half of your body...

I asked him what kind of can he ran. I told him even though the Dr. was going to say, "Well, then don't let him pass you", I'd have to tell him something to explain the headache!!

Last night totally changed my opinion of the mondo-gi-hugic KLR650. In the hands of a competent rider, it'll move! I like the low-end torque. Exhaust noise to air-under-front-wheel ratio was impressively low....Kevin excluded. ROFL

Brian, fix that speedo. 99mph DRZ shimmy may be 100mph shimmy on a KLR and I want to know!

Man, the ride home was a liiiiitle bit chilly. Bring on the SUMMER! Long rides ending with a romp in the pool and a bonfire cookout!

I think I saw you guys at the Exxon station when I was on my way to football practice. I saw one dual sport bike and one street bike. One dude dressed in leather pants (yeah baby) and another dressed in jeans. Right guys?
